Toronto City Hall Chambers

In April of 2023 VR Specialist Chris Kirkwood was tasked with recreating Toronto’s City Hall Chambers for a VR set ahead of Toronto’s June by-election. City Hall Correspondent Matthew Bingley provided access to Chris to take pictures and measurements of the Chambers (much to the chagrin of the Sergeant at Arms). A month or two later he finished modelling and texturing the room and it was ready for green screen. Global Toronto correspondent Erica Vella and Senior Global National correspondent Eric Sorensen each had ideas for pieces ahead and after election night. Members of the press aren’t permitted down on the main floor of the chambers so this virtual set allowed for unique perspective.

Chris Kirkwood later proceeded to use his VR set of the city hall chambers to show the city councillors’ mayoral endorsements and an analysis of the election results.
