Cost of Cancer

While Canada’s healthcare system covers the cost of hospital care for everyone, many are left without funding for prescription drugs. A few factors determine whether you have to pay for a treatment: your age, income and the province you live in. For some cancer patients, the course of treatment is taking oral drugs, rather than getting radiation or intravenous chemotherapy. As oral treatment does not take place in a hospital setting, the government does not cover the cost, and it is passed on to the patient.

Janet Cordahi built this infographic which shows who suffers from cancer in Canada.
